Romans 11:9 offers a challenging image: a table that should represent provision and fellowship becoming “a snare and a trap, a stumbling block.”

It reminds us that our greatest challenges don't always come from what we lack. Sometimes they come from what we have—and how we respond to it.

Success can become pride.

Comfort can become complacency.

Opportunity can become distraction.

Provision can become the thing we depend on instead of the Provider.

As we begin a new week, let's ask God for something beyond material blessings:

Discernment.

Discernment to recognize what is truly beneficial.

Discernment to recognize what is pulling us away from God.

Discernment to know when to accept an opportunity—and when to walk away.

Not every table is our table.

Not every opportunity is our opportunity.

Not everything we can have is something we should have.

May we remain grateful for God's provision without becoming distracted by it.
